Yes, we really are here

Madame Blin having a beer on the Place des Vosges; her friend at Notre Dame; la Place des Vosges itself, with spring trees.

The little apartment here has shutters. Every morning, I open the shutters, pushing them back to see the day, and every night, I pull them shut them again. There is something primal about opening and shutting shutters.
They’re shut now. It’s bedtime.

I do now feel as if I’m taking lots of people with me on my trip. One of my first jobs, in 1968?, was as a tour guide of the National Arts Centre before it opened, just me and my little megaphone. And now, once more.
    Venez, les amis.
